 RSV Immunisation – Who Can Get It and How

Please note, RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccination IS NOT available through GP clinics. Instead, the H.S.E. will offer free RSV immunisation to the following babies during the RSV season (early September 2025 to end of February 2026):

Who is eligible:

  • Newborns born during RSV season (from 1 September 2025 to 28 February 2026)
  • Babies aged 6 months or younger at the start of RSV season
    (i.e., born between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2025)
  • Premature babies (born before 30 weeks’ gestation or weighing less than 1.25kg at birth), and other higher-risk infants with underlying medical conditions, born during RSV season

💉 Getting Your Baby Immunised

How and where your baby gets the RSV immunisation depends on when they were born:

🍼 Babies born between 1 September 2025 – 28 February 2026

  • Immunisation will be offered in the maternity hospital soon after birth
  • If born at home, your baby can receive RSV immunisation during their newborn health checks – speak to your midwife for more information

🍼 Babies born between 1 March 2025 – 31 August 2025

  • You can book an appointment online to get your baby immunised
